Strong winds and rough wind chop, but these guys and girls, (aged from 10-12 years old) from the Regents International School Pattaya, Thailand were keen to get out there and play. Many of them had very little previous ocean experience.
Most of the teaching, and probably all the actual learning happens on the water, but a brief safety talk and basic strategy session does not have to be boring.

When it is windy and wavy it certainly is tougher on the water, but the more it is moving, the more interesting it is. Out of 19 students, not one of them gave up. They forgot their phones for a few hours each day and related directly with each other and their environment. (breeak? - think I need one also lol)

Few get excited by the prospect of picking up a mess, especially someone else's. However anything done in the spirit of team work in the great outdoors comes with its own rewards. This is caring in deed.
We know that trying to pick up rubbish by hand is like trying to catch a waterfall in your hands, but in the simple act of caring, we become part of the solution. We also begin to ask better questions, like who is making all this stuff? how useful was it? who benefited and for how long? who pays the real cost and for how long? Its not so much about blame as it is about responsibility and fresh possibilities. (oops I spelt parents wrong)
The high carbohydrate and refined seed oils we have become accustomed to are less than an ideal diet. Much of the trash on the beach is packaging for the products of agriculture that have left the realm of biology and are now driven by an economy of commodities. Unfortunately, those who benefit from keeping those systems in place are the ones offering jobs to chemists and biologists. So who, exactly is going to feed us a diet that is low on inflammation and higher on non-biased information? (hopefully someone with better spelling lol)
