Rappelling down to the Cauldron core, I've overridden a network uplink, which released two Widemaws that I defeated quickly. Overriding the core unlocked schematics for several machine types. After testing my new ability on a Scrounger at the surface, I summoned my Sunwing and concluded the session.
I rappelled down into the central chamber, sighting the Cauldron core directly ahead while Aloy noted her objective to override it. Suspended directly overhead, the massive machine undergoing repairs hung precariously, making me hope the structure would hold.
Reaching the central node, I found no immediate prompt to interact with the core itself. Scanning the surrounding platform, I located a network uplink requiring authorization first.
I stepped up to override the uplink, which immediately triggered the containment release, dropping a fully repaired Widemaw directly into the arena.
The Widemaw charged across the platform, forcing me to open fire at close range with my shock blaster. The heavy barrage brought the machine down in short order, but a second Widemaw dropped from the assembly rig to reinforce the position.
The secondary target launched long-range attacks, but its remaining durability proved relatively low. Combining heavy fire with agile navigations, I destroyed the second machine, and cleared the floor from any active threat.
With the defenders eliminated, the central core elevated into position, bypassing HEPHAESTUS's upgraded security protocols.
I initiated the override, and successfully captured the Cauldron data to unlock override schematics for Burrowers, Scroungers, Graziers, Scrappers, Fanghorns, and Widemaws.
With the Cauldron mission completed, I took the lift back up toward the surface, and I spotted the Scrounger that had been guarding the entrance upon my initial arrival.
I slipped behind the machine and applied the fresh override code, which turned the hostile guard into a temporary ally. Secondary Scroungers rushed in to attack, but my newly converted machine engaged them to defend my position like an attack dog.
he temporary override expired after a brief window, forcing me to destroy the Scrounger when it turned aggressive once more.
Clearing the surface area, I summoned my Sunwing to take flight, passing over neutral machine herds before ending the session to rest after a long Cauldron run. I'm planning to meet Sylens next as he's been waiting for me for a long time.
