After defeating forest bandits in a standoff, I arrived at Furuta Village and scouted the Mongol-occupied territory from a rooftop. Attempting a sticky bomb kill sounded the war horn, triggering an open brawl. I cleared some soldiers and a brute before facing mounted horsemen in a standoff, where I messed up dearly.
I resumed my journey through the dark forest toward Furuta Village. Along the trail, a group of bandits stepped out to block my path, and I immediately issued a standoff challenge. I executed a precise standoff streak, cutting three of them down in rapid succession.
That proved to be the entire ambush, allowing me to resolve the fight without taking any damage, though I delivered a quick strike to finish off one bandit left clinging to life on the ground.
It felt as though I was battling as many rogue bandits along the road as actual invaders in Mongol-controlled land.
Reaching my tracked destination at Furuta Village, I held back to survey the area before rushing into the unknown.
I climbed the roof of a nearby house to gain a clear vantage point over the occupied settlement. It looked like the Mongols had transformed the village into a major base, positioning archers on elevated platforms and sending mounted horsemen to patrol the grounds.
Realizing I needed to clear out the entire territory, I aimed for a clean sticky bomb kill, and I shot an archer on a watchtower with a sticky bomb as it was a bonus objective for this territory.
The blast failed to kill him instantly, allowing him to spot my position and sound his war horn to alert the entire compound, eliminating any chance of stealth.
As the horn's echo died down, I leaped off the roof to engage the forces rushing toward my location. I reached for another sticky bomb, only to realize my supply was completely depleted. With some Mongols converging on my position, I drew my katana and met them head-on, parrying incoming strikes and taking down enemy after enemy.
A heavy brute charged into the fray, but I quickly shifted into Moon Stance, broke his guard and finishing him off in seconds.
With the main wave of soldiers defeated, the mounted horsemen I had observed earlier finally rode into the courtyard to investigate, oblivious to the fate of their fallen comrades.
As they approached the bodies, I called out another standoff. One of them attempted a feint to throw off my timing, but I stayed patient and sliced him down the moment he committed to his strike.
I cut down a second rider immediately after, but a third Mongol struck early and broke my streak, forcing me back into open combat.
