I had to abandon my cycling session... my training diary entry from October 7 2026
(I took this photo on Sunday while out for a long walk with my wife to keep our legs moving after our long run on Saturday.)
Hi Actifitters,
after ten days without cycling training, I wanted to challenge myself right away yesterday and picked an interval workout with a difficulty rating of 5/5. It involved completing fifteen 30-second intervals at 535 watts. I knew it would be tough, but I hadn't expected to have to stop during the seventh interval.
Of course, I’m not burying my head in the sand now. On the contrary, it motivates me to conquer this session sooner or later. Here are the figures from yesterday’s training.
Duration - 0:26:09
Distance - 12.64 km
Elevetaion gain - 144 m
Average speed - 29.0 km/h
Maximum speed - 62.8 km/h
Average power output - 191 watts
Maximum power output - 536 watts
Average heart rate - 140 bpm
Maximum heart rate - 178 bpm
Average cadence - 93
Maximum cadence - 143
Calories - 286
I might make another attempt on Friday.
To burn a few more calories, I got back on the bike a little later. However, it was nothing special, so there’s no point in boring you with the stats.
In addition, I went for a half-hour jog with my wife in the evening before it got dark.
Mission 80 (Day 101 = 85.1 kg / Goal = 80.0 kg / Initial weight = 90.0 kg / Total loss = 4.9 kg)
And once again, a good chunk of weight has dropped off—800 grams, to be exact. Then again, I did have a total energy expenditure of nearly 4,000 calories yesterday. Even though that doesn't quite justify an 800-gram loss, I would have been very surprised if I had gained weight after a day like yesterday.
Unfortunately, I have to skip my workout entirely today because I need to head to the office right after publishing this post. A succession of meetings awaits me there. I can’t imagine anything better, and I’ll be more than happy when this day is finally over.
