Recovery Day 19 - Small improvement... my training diary entry from June 25 2026
(Here is another photo from my 27-kilometer walk last weekend. Does anyone know what that white fluff might be?)
Hi Actifitters,
after taking a two-day break, I pulled myself together yesterday to do a few upper-body exercises. These included dumbbell curls, lateral raises, pull-ups, and, of course, push-ups—specifically, close-grip push-ups.
You can tell from the pulse rate that exercising in the current high temperatures puts more strain on the body. That actually suits me quite well, though, because it means I burn a few extra calories even without my regular cycling workouts.
But now, regarding my performance on the close-grip push-ups... here are my numbers.
The next goal according to the training plan (47+):
| set 1 | set 2 | set 3 | set 4 | set 5 | break between sets |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 9 | 11 | 8 | 8 | max (min. 11) | 60 seconds |
My previous attempt (38):
| set 1 | set 2 | set 3 | set 4 | set 5 | break between sets |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 9 | 11 | 8 | 6 | 4 | 60 seconds |
Yesterdays attempt (40):
| set 1 | set 2 | set 3 | set 4 | set 5 | break between sets |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 9 | 11 | 8 | 7 | 5 | 60 seconds |
I managed to improve by two repetitions (one in the fourth set and one in the fifth and final set). While it’s not a huge improvement, I’m still happy about it. However, I still have a long way to go before I reach my current goal.
Since I have little to no time over the weekend to work on my push-ups, I might just squeeze in a quick session today.
