After the debacle with the water heater I had another pressing task. We had topped off the spa but I had not put salt in the softener yet which meant the spa got a heavy dose of iron laden water. Thankfully the iron-out did its job quite well and sucked the iron out of the water and deposited it all on the filter. I pulled the filter out and was a bit amazed at the color of it. I took the hose with a higher pressure nozzle on it and went at the filter for a good 5 minutes. It cleaned up nicely and I got it back in the water quickly.

stryeyz@stryeyz was working from home all day but she was feeling some of what J had going on so she spent the day working in the house instead of her studio. I got my lessons done in the morning then mid day once it had warmed up a bit I went out to try to take the old water heater apart. After getting the bottom panel screws removed I found a thin layer of regular white foam which broke out easily.

The rest of the cover cut fairly quickly and I managed to NOT cut myself once on the sharp metal edge. I grabbed the big pry bar and used it to help peel the metal case back.

Once it got going I was able to stand on the metal and push the tank to unroll it. I got a nice piece of metal that is largely flattened now and set to the side. I know it will come in handy for something around the farm. The tank got stood back up and I will work on removing the foam fin the next days.

I picked the boys up from school and nicely they were both out quicklly so we were the first ones out of the school parking lot. It's quite nice to be the first ones out since we are one of the ones that lives closest to the school.

Once home it took the boys a little bit but eventually they pulled their bikes from the gear shed and J went tearing off down the driveway while R began his hour of screaming in frustration. The training wheels are still on the bike and he was having hell of a time trying to figure out how to push off with one foot then getting his feet on the pedals and continuing on pedalling. The training wheel would hit the gravel and dig in making it rather hard for him to keep moving. I was in the yard getting the fire going in the pit and I could hear him screaming a roar from down the driveway.

I walked across the yard to see him in the middle of the driveway in the middle of the big patch of ice trying to pedal. I told him numerous times that he can't ride on the ice but he refused to listen to me and just kept trying and screaming. Eventually he had enough and walked the bike back to the house where he dumped it in a huff.

Once the ice and snow is gone it will be a LOT easier for him to learn to ride his bike.

I had the fire going and kept it going strong until evening. I had a bit of a chill in the afternoon so it was really nice to stand by the warm fire.

We are running down on our bison supply so I have switched over to all beef burgers. Still quite tasty especially grilled on the open fire.

It was a bit early of a night as the boys have a wrestling tournament today which is nicely only 15 minutes away.

Wrestling this morning into the afternoon most likely, we might be home in time to see the UFC 286 main card, I will be grilling again this evening, and I am almost past this long flare up in my eczema - just a little bit left to make go away and I might get to soak again after 5 months.
