I believe that there is hardly any soul that would say that they do not enjoy eating groundnuts. While we call it groundnuts, others call it peanuts. Every store sells groundnuts but within and outside our country and it is one of the crops that people can relate with easily even if they are not farmers.

It's one of the easiest farm work you can do although time consuming.

A very beautiful new morning to us all, thank God it's weekend and people will get to have as much rest as they desire. It's a good thing to refresh so that our bodies can build the energy to start going again by the time Monday comes around.

While my 9-5frienda rest at home our is gonna be a beautiful moments of harvest because. We would be picking groundnuts today and hopefully we will have the children join us.

In fact it has become very compulsory and a matter of urgency to harvest every groundnut still in the farm this day as some of the nuts are already germinating within the shell.

One things about farming is that everything has to be done promptly. If it's time of harvest, it should be done quickly and without delay.
The consistency of rainfall and delay in harvest can cause your groundnuts to start germinating like the one I have here.

Onçe the nuts germinates like this, it has gone bad and can neither be eating or be useful for anything. They have returned back to their vegetative forms as if they have just being planted. These seeds can't be eating and won't be able to produce anything as food before the raining seasons is over.
Mind you the Month of October usually signals the end of the rains here but we may have some brief shower in the first weeks or November even though that is not common.

We need speed to pick these nuts, they shouldn't spend another one more day in the farm. It is either we look for more hands to join us for the harvest or we device some faster means to pick up the nuts.

Rather than pulling up little of the nuts plant per time we uprooted everything together and pilled them into heaps in multiple places.

Before today what we know to do is to uproot the plant then pick up the nuts by plucking them one after the other from the roots of the plants

But we learnt a new method that is meant to make the work faster. We were taught to uproot the entire plants in the farm. Keep them in piles for the leaves to dry off from the nuts. From here sticks can be used to beat out the nut shells from the leaves

I equally learnt that there are machines that can do this to make our work faster, each and every time we here that a new machine for harvest or any other task has been procuced but since none of these machines often gets to our localities we continue to work with our hands
