It's a blessed new day and we are up and grateful for the help of God that has kept us going.

This is what the terrain to farm looks like. If you know the kind of efforts we put in here to cross this ditch that leads to where we grow our crops you will give up on farming. 馃ぃ馃槀馃槀 This place wasn't like this before now. The consistent yearly heavy downpours has led to this and it is almost cutting off an entire community from township. My people are just nonchalant about this, the government only makes policies in books with us not seeing any direct impact of this policies in our lives. It's really unfortunate to live in this part of the world. The common man has to fight to stay alive. At least the farm helps feed my family so I engage in it regardless. The work isn't palatable and so is the weather, farm location and many other factors. Still we thrive

This same farm route and ditch pours into a big river that stretches and passes across the outskirt of the community where I am currently living.

This particular river has swallowed up a lot of people. I particular know of two that were my next door neighbor. They were teenagers and their lives were cut off by this river. My country people are not proactive about climate change and how it affect our lives. There would have been possible solutions that could have been done to prevent the landscape from becoming what we have today. The ordinary citizens cannot handle this kind of situations, it will be too expensive for us to handle on our own.

On days the river overflows it's boundary and pours out close to our farms, we do not go to farm, it usually very dangerous and that flush anyone on its path.

Only about a handful of the youths are willing to farm looking at the situation and because of the stress involve. You can see the hard labour we put in to grow the different types of crops we eat.

I am equally a graduate here and also have a university degree, I'm not too daft for a white collar job too but my opportunities are limited. We all need come form of connections to get government jobs.

I could settle in for farming but only if one could get the support needed in terms of mechanizing these works to ease our labour. Even when you learn a skill, you need some capital to get established, aside that there is a lot of competition going on for skilled entrepreneur. Alot of people are into fashion and others, if you have a store today, it takes some grace to sell anything due to the number of skilled labour supplies out there. For now I just grow the foods we eat in the house and hope for a better life someday.

Having started weeding our rice farm since two days now we have to pause that task to urgently harvest our overipped groundnuts. The importance of prompt harvest cannot be overemphasized. We passed by go check on it yesterday and realized how the leaves are already getting rotten.

They have completed their food production for the year and need to be harvested before our harvest goes bad again like what happened to the beans I blogged about earlier.
