Here are lace baby socks knit for my newest granddaughter, due this summer. I am also sewing some dresses for her.
It has been bitterly cold all weekend and will be below freezing for many days to come, so I am thankful for all the wool socks I made for myself last year. I need to pick some mitten patterns next, so my hands can stay as warm as my feet.
On the needles now is a balaclava (hat and face covering) for one of my sons. I had some gray yarn that was soft enough to wear next to the face. It is a simple tube of ribbing with an opening for the eyes.
I have also started hand quilting a crib-sized quilt top I finished piecing last summer. Needlework helps me through the long, dark cold of winter.
