Hello to the lovely sewing family here at @needleeworkmonday! I wish you all a blessed evening. Today, I’m sharing how I made this bow—perfect for formal gatherings or to complement an outfit. I absolutely love them because they add such an elegant touch to one's look; I like wearing one whenever I feel my outfit needs that extra accessory.
I didn't need many materials to make this charming bow; it's simple, and—of course—you can use whatever you have at home. All it took was a fabric scrap, a couple of pieces of lace, and some thread. But before I get too carried away—since I love making these kinds of accessories—here is the list of materials so you can gather them and make it yourself in the comfort of your own home. Without further ado, let's get to the process:
Materiales: | Materials:
- Hilo y aguja
- Encaje
- Tijera
- Encendedor
- Pinza de cabello
- Cinta métrica
- Thread and needle
- Lace
- Scissors
- Lighter
- Hair clip
- Measuring tape
Pasos a seguir: | Steps to follow:
Paso 01
Step 01
I started by cutting a rectangle measuring 11 cm long by 16.5 cm wide, then a small rectangle—4 cm wide by 8.5 cm long—to serve as the bow's center connector; finally, the base piece is a rectangle measuring 21.5 cm long by 12 cm wide. These are the pieces we will use.
Paso 02
Step 02
Next, I measured the width and length of the decorative lace I would be attaching to the edge of the bow; I first marked it using a two-colored pencil and then cut the piece, repeating the process to get a second one. Now it was time to insert the pins and thread the needle to begin sewing.
Paso 03
Step 03
We will hand-sew the edges of each piece using a simple stitch, maintaining a 0.50 cm seam allowance; I will leave an opening of approximately 3 cm in each piece so they can be turned right-side out. After sewing, I turn the pieces and carefully push out the points using an awl or the tip of the scissors.
Paso 04
Step 04
After turning them right-side out and pressing them well, I’ll use pins to hold the lace pieces in place along the edges of the bow, then sew them on using a single strand of thread with a nearly invisible stitch.
Paso 05
Step 05
Alright, now it’s time to assemble the bow. I’ll start by marking the midpoint of each piece—folding them in half and making small dots with the marker—and then gathering each piece. I’ll wrap the thread around the top pieces and the base two to four times, then position and join them with another three wraps to form the bow. Finally, I’ll place the center piece (the small rectangle) over the join and sew on the hair clip, securing the thread firmly so it doesn't come loose.

And that’s how we finished the bow—it turned out really lovely, honestly. It had been so long since I made this kind of accessory that I’d forgotten how great they look with our outfits. I absolutely love them; I stopped wearing them for a while, but I’ve grown fond of them again, which is why I decided to make one. Next time, I’d like to make one in a different color and style. 😍☺️
Thanks for visiting my blog; see you next time! 👋🏻🥰
