"I'm looking to retire soon," he said.
"Barry," Alice said. "You are twenty three."
"I know."
"And you don't have a job."
"Well, technically, no."
"Or an income."
"Right."
Alice smiled.
"Unless you are planning to retire from being a scint layabout and get a job."
Barry pulled a mock horrified face.
"Heaven forbid! Wash out your mouth, Alice!"
Alice took a sip of her tea.
"Seriously, though. What are you going to do?"
"Well," Barry said, taking another biscuit from the plate, and dipping it in Alice's tea. She slapped his hand and the biscuit fell apart, sinking into the drink. "Well, I thought I'd make you another cup of tea, and then take a dump and maybe go for a walk."
Alice pushed the mug towards Barry.
"I'm in favour of the first one. Number two can wait until I leave the flat, if you don't mind."
