My name is Favour Tom. I am an indigene of Ikono LGA, Nigeria and in a month I will officially be an eligible citizen of my country!
I am a year two accounting student in Akwa Ibom State University, Obio Akpa.
Two years ago, I was still a high school student in an all-girls' school preparing for my SSCE, oblivious of what life had in store for me after graduating. All I knew was "I want to be an accounting student and nothing was going to stop me".
So I made up my mind that I was going to write my JAMB exams alongside my SSCE exams. Boom! It did not turn out as I planned. I wrote the exams a year after my SSCE exams, after I graduated from high school.
Being an accounting student is one of the most tedious and challenging tasks I have ever faced. In high school, I thought I had subjects like Mathematics, Accounting and Economics under control. Boy was I wrong!!
College has shown me that I had little or nothing under control. The analysis, assignments, class activities and long period lectures. All of that have taken my time and attention from other things, including exercising!
As college has shown me that things don't most times go the exact way I plan, it has also taught me how to accommodate people, especially the males whom I usually had problems with while in high school, probably because I attended an all-girls school.
It has also bestowed in me camaraderie for people from different ethnic groups and religions. People used to joke saying "College will change you" but,I never bought that. However, I have seen the manifestation of that. It has changed me indeed. Not negatively, but positively.
I am an optimist who sees the bright side of things in every ugly situation and a social butterfly who tends to have an effect on everyone I meet. So I believe Ecency would be more than fun for me.
How and Why Ecency?
I have had Ecency in my phone for some time now but until now, I never considered making use of it, even when my sister pointed out that it would be good if I had started making use of the app. She is the one who recommended the app.
Let me brief you on what cued my attention to Ecency:
I woke up one morning, picked up my phone, scrolled down in search of YouTube to watch a movie!! I love it! The main actor in the movie is a writer who, for some reason, could not start up a new novel. Fortunately for her, she had a devoted friend who suggested she should go on a vacation/adventure, giving her reasons why it was the best option at the moment in her life. Did Olivia's friend's idea work? Yep! It did.
What I am about to say is the part that got me running.
Eventually, she went on a vacation, had fun, learnt new things, met new people who inspired her and before the end of the break, she was done with the book she had been working on for a month.
The thing about Olivia that triggered me is: she seized the moment, enjoyed it and made good use of it.
What did I realize? Instead of using my free time to watch movies, I should do something fun, out of my course, and didactic.
Now, that is where the "why Ecency?" comes from.
After my realization button was pressed, I remembered Ecency and when my sister told me I should consider using it to develop my writing skills and now, here I am. I believe this app is my best choice of medium because in here I will not just write, I will learn even more from other writers.
So far so good, I have been going through posts in communities like #ladiesoflhive, #ocd and #leofinance. I must confess, I love what I am seeing.
Hope choosing Ecency and Hive is not a wrong decision?
