There are various ways of controlling human conduct in a society, and religion is one of those means. As a matter of fact, to me, religion is the most effective means of controlling human behavior.
Why do I say so? Every religious being has this fear of entertaining wrath should they defy their faith or do something contrary to what they are being taught. Let's take an example from Christians: as Christians, worshippers of the Lord Jesus Christ, we know that stealing, killing, lying, and fornication would take us to hell. So, the fear of ending up there has made many people abstain/flee from things of that sort.

Now, the question is, should worship centres be taxed? No! I will explain why.

First, I do not see why a place that has contributed immensely to the establishment of moral and just conduct in the society should be taxed. I know that taxes are one of the means of government revenue—what they use in providing essential services. But let's not forget that in worship centers, the leaders do not use up the money donated or contributed by the worshippers for their use; rather, those donations, offerings, tithe, and contributions are used for purposes like building schools, supporting the orphanage, supporting widows, offering scholarships, purchasing buses for members' free transportation, providing fuel in case of light out, and building worship branches in different parts of the world for easy access.

These are things that may not or even be possible to be done by government revenue.

Why I further object to taxing worship centers is because these places are not outside this world of taxation, nor are the members of these places. Taxes start from the federal level down to the grassroots level; thus, everyone is taxed. The market women are taxed, laborers are taxed, entrepreneurs are taxed, and all professional and nonprofessional bodies in the society are taxed. Worship centers are made up of these bodies, not aliens. These are people that have already been taxed, so I don't see why worship centers, whether mosques or churches, should be taxed when those that make up these places, including the pastors and imams, have already been taxed.

Above all, if the government ever considers the thought of taxing worshipping centers, I beseech that such thought should be erased and never be implemented because that would not just be an invasion but an exploitation of a greater sort!!
