In every nation of the world, women have gone through one horrible thing and the other. In the western part of Africa, women have been discriminated against and have even been prejudiced.
If a woman is ever mentioned, thoughts were "Oh, the mother of, the wife of, she is in the kitchen, in the farm, in labor, breast feeding." These are but a few of the ways women were rated.
She cannot rule because she is too emotional. She can't attend the meeting because she will eventually be married out of the family.

These experiences led women to stand up for themselves. Fight for their voices to be heard and for the independence to make decisions of their own. Women fought for equality—the right to rule, vote, inherit, and own properties.

Now, the question is, does the society expect women to be strong even when they need support? When I read this question, what came to my mind was, when we say society expects women to be strong. Do we mean women's own societal expectancy of themselves or men's societal expectancy of women?

Assuming we are talking about men's expectancy of women's strength in the society, I would say men expect little or no strength from women. From the very beginning, men have always seen us as weak vessels. People who cannot carry out tasks as difficult as fighting in wars, ruling, and doing lucrative work, which require collaboration (nah! her brain won't carry that). To them, since we don't have the strength for all those, it is better we just farm, cook, birth, and satisfy their desires while they do the rest—the "strength labors."
But, if we are talking of the women's expectancy of their strength, then I will tell you that in this society made of dual genders, women expect more strength from themselves than men expect from them.
Due to what women went through, they have forgotten that sometimes, they need to take a break. Even when they make the attempts, they are motivated by their species on social handles or through other means to remain strong.
They say, "What a man can do, a woman can do better." And honestly, this slogan has made many women become egotistical to seek support when they need it.

Since women advocate for equality and independence, everyone, including themselves-- who make up the society, expects them to be as strong as the men have always been.

They men say,
"They want equality? They should not complain of their problems then!

The women say, "We can do anything and everything men can do." They see no need to seek for support even when they know they need it!

Conclusively, in the society, women expect possession of strength from themselves more than what is expected of them from the opposite gender.
