About 40 years ago, in pharmaceutical factories, the work of labelling the finished medicine bottles in the syrup section was not done by machines.
I remember well that many girls used to work in companies which first stamped the date of manufacture of the medicine, batch number, and expiry date of the medicine on the label.
Then she used to put those labels on the medicine vials one by one. A special type of glue was used to stick these labels, which the girls themselves prepared themselves.
But I can say that labels like this were fixed on the vials forever, and they could not be removed in any way.
But nowadays labelling work is done in factories with machines, vials run on conveyor belts and automatic labelling goes on, thousands of vials are labelled in an hour.
