One of my favorite things is eating fresh from the land. I am blessed everyday to have my feet and hands in the soil and to partake of nature's divine bounty.
I really don't plant flowers any more like I used to. @quinneaker helped me realize that there can be even greater reward than the eye enjoyment of a flower. Nature grows plants that not only provide colorful beauty, but also dense nutrition for the body at the same time. If one is going to put energy into helping nature grow, why not grow something that upgrades life on many levels?
So, now I indulge in flowers not only for my sense of sight, but also for my palate and the health of my body.
Many of the plants growing at the @gardenofeden provide edible flowers, which not only do I eat, but also use to decorate the many dishes prepared and shared on a daily basis.
This flavorful deviled egg was served on an oxalis leaf, with chives from the garden and a beautiful, delicate pink oxalis flower. Not only was it delicious, it brightened up this egg and took it to an entirely heightened level.
These are one of the many yellow flowers that bloom this time of year. Kale, mustard greens, broccoli rahb and oxalis are just a few that produce a sunny bouquet which make my daily meals some of the best meals ever.
Henbit is known as a "weed" in Texas, as it grows wild and prolific all by itself wherever it wants.
Gratefully the blooming happens frequently before plants go to seed. I keep popping them in my mouth and the plant just keeps growing more and more!
What a blessing to have a mouth full of flowers!
Thanks Nature!
