During an euphoric procession dedicated to the deities Yemayá and the Virgin of Regla, all the faithful took to the streets to sing and dance. The white and blue colors of traditional clothing flooded every corner, as a sign of the deep faith and devotion of Afro-Cuban culture. The energy was contagious, despite not understanding the lyrics of the chants.
The banner with the solar symbol catches my attention, holding a very profound meaning in this type of celebration. Men and women moved to the rhythm of the drums along their route. No matter the religion practiced in Cuba, in the end they all seek, in one way or another, hope and salvation.
