Hello ladies, being a while I stopped by, life happened and I have been so busy and handful with personal matters but I when saw the invite by @reineesmay, I knew I had to make an entry for these weeks prompt and the second question got my attention
Everyone has an opinion about her/his self-worth. Do you feel you're being rewarded enough for yours? Remember that rewards are not always in monetary form.
Here's how I feel about the subject...
But before that I think we should understand the meaning of self worth and I would love to invite @peaq (been a while I heard from you girl) and
@atyourservice
So
According to the Macmillan dictionary
“the feeling that you are as important as other people and that you deserve to be respected and treated well
Since I have started job searching, I almost began to question my self-worth for a minute. I have built myself so well, got amazing grades and I have learned the necessary skill I would need to strive in any work environment and I know my self-worth.
So I Go for interviews and boldly answering the questions asked, with so much confidence and charisma because I understand my self-worth. I even negotiated the salary to suit what I deserve because I understand my self worth.....till someone decides to withdraw their offer, just because they seems threaten by how confident i was.
Isn't that funny?
I had to call the person I was intouch with in the firm and he was like I shouldn't have questioned the boss too much, I should have just said yes to whatever was said, just nod and give a big smile next time.
Apparently that's how it is in the office, he treats the staff like they are less than him in every way, in and outside the job and everyone nods to his demand whether it's suit them or not
Now I understand why people work in a toxic environments. I know the country is hard and most people have to drop every self-respect they have just to earn some money daily,I don't think I would want that, no wonder lots of people rather become entrepreneurs and business owners.
I have come to understand especially in this part of the world where I live (Nigeria), very few people care about you or your self-worth, everyone is either after what you can offer them or how they can benefit from you most of the time.
So talking about people rewarding one's self worth is completely out of the question because most times they don't even know this self worth, because every opportunity you may get to even show it is either taken away or blocked.
my worth is entirely up to me, right now, I am worthy of a lot of things because I know I am and I trust I am enough. even if no one knows or has given me the opportunity to even show it.
Rather than wait to be rewarded by other for my self worth, I decided to engage in self-reward. Like the other day after the interview that I was sure I Aced, I went to a shawarma Spot, sat down and gave myself a treat.. self-reward
I give myself a thumbs up from time to time. I self-reward and It feels so good.
There are so many ways to reward ourself for our self -worth and it up to us to determine how we want to reward ourself, if we chose to wait for others to cheer us up or reward us for our self worth we could wait a long time and gradually lose this self-worth. If we get appreciated from Time to time that is cool but if not consider Self-reward like I do.
