I lived most of my life being afraid of my mother and father. I served them like a free-working servant. They manipulated me every step of the way. I was not given money, so they used that as a control stick on me.
This worked until I got my job and managed to work independently and save money. Once the money came in, they wanted to reverse the control, and they played differently and acted as victims.
Now before, they were controlling me using their money. The role changed now. They wanted to control me for my money. So that they always think that it is good for me that they are in my life.
What do you learn from this?
If you let people use you, they will not hesitate. It works with family, parents, siblings, and other relatives too.

Showing your Weakness
Your parents, siblings, and friends know your weakness, and they would like to manipulate you the more you show your weakness to them. They will manipulate you if you speak in front of them with an open mind.
So you have to be pretty discrete with your inner thoughts. Moreover, you have to be very understanding of the fact that if you do that, the other party is going to be using you.
Tolerating Dominance
The moment parents, siblings, relatives, and the family start to dominate you. This leads to the thoughts' dominance, making it harder to deal with them. It becomes challenging if they have some form of leverage over you.
You must think of your means for reducing that dominance and the pushy mindset if you wish to move ahead because you cannot do much in life if you continue to tolerate the family.
Same with friends. You happen to get a lot into that sort of the relationship management issue, you suffer if you don't set boundary.
Lesson
You have to set boundaries, especially for your people. Once you set the boundaries, people do not choose to get in that space. If they still do, you must settle the issues with them. Sometimes being confrontational is one of those ways you can set yourself free.
