One thing I discovered during my recent trip to Baguio was from a sweet, but not too sweet pastry from Victoria Bakeshop, it is called cream puff. I only heared about it from a friend before but I never got to try it.
The cream puffs come in different flavors, and we bought all flavors: cookies and cream, strawberry, chocolate, matcha and the original custard cream. I tried the matcha and strawberry ones. Both were really good! What I liked most was that they weren’t too sweet, so I could actually enjoy the filling without feeling overwhelmed by sugar (and I must say this would perfectly fit the palate of uncles and aunties in their 30s out there 😆).
Apparently, they only make and sell a limited number each day, so people actually line up for them. When we went on Friday morning, there were already around 15 people ahead of us. Then, when we went back on Sunday before heading home to Manila to buy some presents, the line had gotten even longer and there were people waiting outside the shop! The guard have to stop people from just coming in and out, only a limited number are allowed to go inside at a time. Maybe it was because it was the weekend and there were more tourists in Baguio, but judging from the long line, these cream puffs seem to be their best-selling treat.
Victoria Bakeshop also has lots of other breads and pastries, but the cream puffs definitely are the customer's favorite. They’re the kind of treat that makes you want to go back for more!
If you’re from the Philippines and planning a trip to Baguio soon, I suggest adding Victoria Bakeshop’s cream puffs to your food trip list. The matcha and strawberry flavors are definitely worth trying! 💚🍓
