As I told you yesterday, another day another 10 K race.
This morning at 10 am in Postojna. Something completely different. Most of it was on tarmac and forest trails, quite hilly with a really steep ascend and the descent at the very end. It was fun again.
I promised the organizers, the local running club Postojna teče that I'll be running here some months ago. So I kept my promise, gladly.
After the sprint 10 K yesterday late in the evening it was 12 hours later than I was at the start line again. This time I decided to take it easy at firsts and then push the pace up in the second half.
A wise decision since from the start the path narrowed out of the city square and we were walking up the stairs until we reached the forest path. It's a great start when you are not in hurry.
From here on the roads lead us up and down and around through some really nice parts of Postojna's surroundings Like Pivka Jama camping. A place to stay a few days next summer, definitely.
From camping onward, it was exactly at the halfway point and at the lowest point of the race at the same time, I tried to run as fast as possible. It wasn't easy because the road kept climbing and undulating around the hills on its way back to the city center.
The best was in store for us at the last kilometer. A steep uphill section in the forest with a longer and equally steep descent back to the finish line.
I finished the run in 52 minutes and something. I guess it would be possible to run under 50 minutes. If ... Maybe without the run yesternight and with pushing from the first meter. It's not important.
All in all, it was really an entertaining run. I loved the paths and I loved how the organizers were friendly and helpful. You did great, thank you!
Some photos and graphics. Action photos will be made available soon, I hope.
Finish area before the ceremonies started.
Essential data of the run.
Training effect, no idea what the numbers represent but they look promising, with kilometer times. Closing to the finish and running downhill there were sections with a sub 4 pace.
A nice representation of the profile (blue), heart rate (fairly straight line), and running power (red). Check the red line at the last kilometer. It shows I put more effort into running down. Interesting.
The map again.
To sum it up, it was a lovely run in a good company with excellent organization. I'll be back!
