I apologize for my absence here on Hive but this past week has been a busy and a trying one. After we got the news about my father's car accident we decided to drive down to Ohio to help support my parents. Last Friday we packed up the Subaru for the 800 mile drive, stopping for the night in Schaumburg, Illinois.

Shortly after we left Minnesota we heard the news that the second wave of the virus was in full effect. The night we stopped in Schaumburg the daily new case count tripled for Illinois to over 6,000 new cases.

For those of you who haven’t taken a road trip during this pandemic things are a bit different with all of the Covid-19 restrictions. Many of the negatives surrounding this virus we’re all well aware of but we experienced one huge positive, Illinois wasn’t requiring you to pay on toll roads.

Speaking of Covid

As many of you might know he was in a car accident a few weeks ago, spent a week in the hospital, and was been placed in a rehab facility. We got the news that my father tested positive in the facility a few days ago and was transported to another nursing home that is dealing only with Covid patients. He was asymptomatic at the time but over the past couple of days he’s experienced extreme mental confusion (a common symptom for the elderly). For my dad, this has manifested more like a coma. He is largely unresponsive.

The new facility has allowed window visits for the family and we’ve gone every day to see him but he’s not alert enough to know we’re there. We’re all feeling very helpless right now. So far his vitals, including O2 levels, have remained normal. For those of you who have read my posts about my father know he’s a very strong individual so we are all hoping and praying that he can beat this virus. Our entire family would greatly appreciate your prayers at this time.

My goal is to get back to posting regularly on Hive soon, I’ve missed interacting with you all this past week. My new book, Mindful Moments, is still on track for a mid-November release and I’ll be posting updates about this soon.

Thank you all in advance for the prayers and support!

With Gratitude,

Eric
