One of my favs - Esther Duflo recently was awarded with the Nobel prize in economics Alongside her husband Abhijit Banerjee and Colleague Michael Kremer.
Am particularly thrilled about the recognition of the increasing importance development economics is playing in the World today.
Now am no academian, just an enthusiast but economics is something I believe we should all be fairly grounded in. How the World works, Why some countries are considered extremely rich and others extremely poor, and even issues like the Trade wars are some reasons why we need to know.
Development economics, though a fairly new field, is certainly carrying its own weight. What I like particularly is the experimental research approach that economists take to achieving result in this field. There's something about doing all the groundwork then actually seeing your effort making a difference.
Well this post is about celebrating an amazing woman. So rather than bore you guys more, let's all hail queen Esther.
