As modern civilization continues to develop, I wonder how critical the next century or so will be. Over the last century we have witnessed more in terms of technological advancement than at any point in the history of human existence. This has also led to some rather pertinent questions on how much longer we can keep up the rapid pace of development.
The 'race' is still very much on. Now it is the AI race that big companies are focused on. There was a time when it used to be all about creating g technologies that make life easier for every human, but I wonder if that's still the case. Moreso, I wonder if we ever get to a 'peak period' in terms of technological development that prompts a halt or plateau of further development activities. It is quite expected that every growth inevitably faces a decline at some point. I think we are experiencing such in a variety of areas already, but is there more to come?
Would we be a better World if we had everything at our fingertips? I do not think so. I think it would be a rather dreadful place without colour. The striving has always been important, even though real human suffering is of no value to anyone. Our sense of gratitude and appreciation also weakens to an extent as those who never faced the struggle to create such an environment.
The modern World has its own struggles, but I think we sometimes forget how privileged and fortunate we are to live in such an era. We must not be tired of putting in effort to churn out results. The system may be imperfect, but a pampered society that relies heavily on welfare will be far worse.
