I have been considering leaving my current residence for quite sometime now (since the year began actually) largely because the distance to my office is quite significant. I have weighed both the benefits and costs of staying and leaving and the most rational decision would be to move out and get an apartment closer to my office/
As simple as this decision sounds, I am yet to leave. Because things are better put in perspective I have pondered on my reluctance to act and have rather reluctantly been forced to admit some truths in relation. The most obvious is that I am rather comfortable where I am to the extent that it seems worth the additional stress.
While it probably won't be wise to continue commuting to work at my current residence, I do completely understand by body's decision to hesitate and maintain tthe status quo. Firstly, I have never been a big fan of change either ways, and once I get comfortable with any set-up, it takes real effort or something drastic to get me off.
Secondly is the acceptance that my current levels of comfort with my apartment, though costly and stressful - provides me with additional layers of hapiness that probably cannot be quantified. In other words, my feelings are valid, though not completely rational.
A time will come when I would have to trade some of that comfort though. It certainly takes some deal of courage to take the necessary actions for our own progress sometimes.
