Hello, everyone.
I welcome you to my blog. Over the years one lesson I have learnt is that our every decision has a way of affecting our lives; whether those decisions are major decisions or not, they still have an impact on our lives, no matter how small. There are decisions that we have made thinking it is nothing that actually came back to haunt us. When we were younger, my parents kept pushing me to learn a skill, but I told them I had dreams of playing professional football, and instead of going to learn a skill in the evening after school, I went to the football field, and today I am left wishing I had obeyed their instructions and learnt a skill.
As of then I thought I knew better; I felt the country I was in operated in a way that we could be anything like we were told. Today things are completely different, and I keep wishing I had learnt a skill rather than playing football. As of then I felt like I made the right decision, but today when I think about it, I just see how badly that decision affected me and where that single decision has left me, and today all I wish for is that I learnt a skill when I had that time. I had time, and time was a luxury then with very few needs that were catered for by my parents, and I did not even have to work, which makes learning a skill offline now quite difficult because combining that with work feels impossible to do no matter how I try to squeeze it in.
Sometimes I blame myself for the position I am in, especially when I was job hunting. I kept saying to myself, 'If only I had learnt a skill, I would have worked towards establishing that skill and not gone from one office to another, from one interview to another, answering even questions I would have snubbed on a normal day.' Rather than passing through all that stress to work for somebody else, I would have just used that energy to build on my skill and establish it. That one decision to play football rather than learn a skill has done me more harm than good; it has put me in a tighter spot than I should have been in.
Our decisions can make us, and they can break us. And it's funny how every decision counts; every decision matters, whether young or old. The decisions you make will always have a way of coming back to either benefit you or make you suffer for making them. I made one decision with my myopic thinking, and today I have to deal with the regrets of every time I made that decision, and until it is corrected, I think I will continue to regret it.
