So we were all down in Southern Mississippi volunteering on a Service trip. And we had been working pretty hard for 4-5 days when we were told "The boys are going out crabbing tomorrow. Ya'll want some?"

We sure did! I think we ended up getting THREE DOZEN. Which was almost more than we needed. Plus a good 5 lbs or more of shrimp from the local market. And all the fixins!!

Here is one of him fresh and kicking... Not 5 hours out of the ocean:

As you can see, they call them Blue Crabs. Not sure though if that is their official name.

Look at those side horns or spines. They were dangerously sharp!

But here is the good part!! These are boiled, seasoned and ready for cracking!!!

The kids were so excited they had burst into harmony at the sight of them. (I think some are in a choir together!!)

They took a little work, but when you pulled out a nice big chunk....dipped in butter.....ooooooooooh! It was SO DELICIOUS!!

Sorry if I made your mouth water. Mine is watering again just recounting it! Can't wait to do it again.

(And for those coin counters out there....how much were they? $30 a dozen. From what I'm told...that is PRETTY good!!)
