The evening coalesced into charcoal clouds toward the west, backlit by a burnt yellow glow. Blue became grey on its path toward black, revealing glimpses of stars on the way.
I walked through the shouts and the laughter of a city at night come to life. My mind drifted halfway through the past with the rest in the future, reminiscence and dreams united in their goal to distract me from fatigue.
Two blocks turned to one as each present moment passed until nothing but a door stood between me and home. I opened it.
Leaving my shoes in the corner and my shirt in a basket, I made my way to the sink and washed the day away.
