For the past three days, the rain has been relentless, flooding the roads and creating puddles everywhere. Despite the wet weather, I still like to exercise, so I decided to take a walk around my village.
I noticed that the restaurant car park at the lido had slightly flooded, but it wasn’t stopping people from going in. In fact, there was a lovely vintage Armstrong Siddeley Sapphire (1960) car parked in the car park.
I continued my walk around the lido where I saw the one remaining cygnet. I remembered seeing its parents teaching it how to fly just last week. They would flap their wings and run across the water, with the little cygnet following suit. It's too young to fly yet but it got the gist of what to do. Now, its parents have moved to another pond for a short while, leaving the cygnet to practice on its own and become more independent.
As I carried on , I couldn't help but notice the fly agaric fungi that had sprouted all over the place. Normally, we only get one or two in this area each year, but with the rain, it seemed like they had multiplied.
The bright red caps stood out against the wet ground, adding a pop of colour to a miserable day.
Despite the rainy weather, my walk around the village turned out to be quite an interesting one with the cygnet learning to fly and the fungi flourishing in the rain.
