How do you kill an unkillable man? You let a cosmic being do it! This is (almost) the last domino that fell into place for me as I was writing the issue (there's one more domino ready to fall on pages 34/35). Harvey can't help himself so he attacks William, which alerts Rupert and the cultists to his presence, Rupert knows magic and is going to defend himself, turn his skin into iron and bark - so how could Rosie and Harvey fulfill their mission of collecting some of his blood?
Well, luckily all the struggle attracted a Nageeshi, one of the only beings that could easily draw blood from Rupert in this state, so Harvey's new directive was to get Rupert to make eye contact with this alien being. It's kind of amazing to me that an issue that took me years to write could suddenly clear up and become engaging so quickly.
As those of you who have been reading my Ithaqa posts know, I was forcing Harvey to do things he wouldn't do, once I stopped, it all fell into place with an elegance that I still find shocking.
