As we near the end of this era of our lives, you know. We find ourselves striving to recall the happy times while attempting to forget the awful ones. You can find yourself worrying about the future, wondering what you're going to do and where you'll be in ten years.

"Collins, in ten years time where will you find yourself?" one of my pals asked during a get-together hangout with my buddies when I was 17 years old and had just graduated from high school. I was perplexed, and I looked at him. I reacted in a better place since I didn't know what to say. The rest of my buddies were asked the same thing. I returned home depressed, like if I had lost something important to me. I was at my lowest point for a week, upset and contemplating how to improve my life, but here's the thing: I didn't quit. There's an old adage that if you wait long enough in a barbershop, you'll get a haircut. I'm still on my way to a better life.
But I have something to say to you.
"Collins, dentro de diez años, ¿dónde te encontrarás?" preguntó uno de mis amigos durante una reunión con mis amigos cuando yo tenía 17 años y acababa de graduarme de la escuela secundaria. Me quedé perplejo y lo miré. Reaccioné en un lugar mejor ya que no sabía qué decir. Al resto de mis amigos se les preguntó lo mismo. Regresé a casa deprimido, como si hubiera perdido algo importante para mí. Estuve en mi punto más bajo durante una semana, molesto y contemplando cómo mejorar mi vida, pero aquí está la cosa: no me rendí. Hay un viejo refrán que dice que si esperas lo suficiente en una barbería, te cortarán el pelo. Todavía estoy en camino hacia una vida mejor.
Pero tengo algo que decirte.
Please don't be so concerned; after all, none of us has a very long time on this planet. And if you're ever in a bad mood, look up into the summer sky, when the stars are strewn across the velvety night, when a shooting star flashes through the darkness altering nights.
