Last night, the Vietnamese football team had a match against Australia in the third World Cup qualifier of the Asia region. Although it was only a qualifying match, for us it was a celebration because it was the first time in history that we entered the final World Cup qualifier in Asia. Therefore, I made baked chicken to support this match. See the steps below.

Step 2 | Make the marinade

Put the finely chopped onion, garlic, chili, lime leaves and black pepper in a bowl. Add salt, sugar, seasoning powder, fish sauce, soil sauce and cooking oil to the bowl. Then mix the mixture together to make the marinade.

Step 3 | Marinate chicken

Use needle-shaped objects such as toothpicks, lemon tree thorns, needles, etc. to pierce the entire chicken skin with the aim of allowing the marinade to penetrate the chicken evenly and also to help it cook more evenly when baked. Then pour the marinade over the chicken and mix well and leave the chicken for 30 minutes to let it absorb the spices.

Step 4 | Bake the chicken

After waiting for about 30 minutes for the chicken to absorb the spices, bake it for the first 30 minutes, then flip the chicken and bake for another 30 minutes. And finally brush the honey evenly over the chicken and bake for another 10 minutes. And ta-da...we had a delicious baked chicken to cheer on for the national team game. Even though our team lost 0-1, we are still very proud of our players. Congratulations to the Australian team! At least we had good chicken and a good time together.
