Hello again, foodies and friends!

Meet me again in my kitchen laboratory! 😆

I call my kitchen a “laboratory” because I recently started cooking again, and there are still so many dishes that I have never tried making before. As usual, whenever I cook, I like to take pictures of the process and share them with you.

So, let's get started with another cooking experiment!

INGREDIENTS

Ingredients 1: Chicken Marinade

  • 1 whole chicken, cut into 8 pieces
  • 1 lime
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp mushroom seasoning

Ingredients 2: Sauce

  • 1 onion, sliced
  • ½ bulb of garlic, minced
  • 5 tbsp margarine
  • 3 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 3 tbsp sweet soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp chili sauce
  • 2 tsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp mushroom seasoning
  • 100 ml water

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS

#1 STEP

Marinate the chicken: Combine the chicken with all the marinade ingredients. Mix well and make sure the marinade coats the chicken evenly.

alt

I let the chicken marinate in the refrigerator for about an hour.

#2 STEP

Fry the chicken: Fry the marinated chicken until golden brown. Remove it from the oil and drain well.

alt

Before moving on to the next step, prepare the sauce by combining all the sauce ingredients in a bowl and mixing them well.

#3 STEP

Cook the sauce: Sauté the onion and garlic with the margarine until fragrant. Add the prepared sauce mixture, followed by the fried chicken.

alt

Cook until the sauce thickens and is absorbed into the chicken.

AND THIS IS IT...

BUTTER FRIED CHICKEN 🍗

alt

The chicken had a savory, sweet, and slightly tangy flavor. My husband enjoyed it anyway, but I think this cooking experiment still needs a little more adjustment.

For my next attempt, I think I will add more lime for extra tanginess, increase the amount of pepper, and let the chicken marinate for a longer time so the flavor can penetrate the meat better.

That's the fun part of cooking experiments—you don't always get the exact result you imagined on the first try. Sometimes you discover what needs to be improved for the next one. 😆

You can try my recipe as it is, or use it as a starting point and make your own adjustments according to your taste.

Happy cooking, foodies!
