It's a constant irritation for me that people either do not enunciate properly or, almost to the point of deliberateness, respond with something totally different to what you asked.
Slowly and surely, every McDonald's outlet in the UK is moving over to self-service payments; you enter the takeaway, press a few buttons, and hopefully, you're presented with what you ordered. The idea is that it supposedly speeds the process up. That is, of course, so long as Darren on the fries station can get his arse in gear.
I was rather hungry this morning and wanted Double sausage & egg McMuffin, two hash browns, and orange juice I duly started pressing buttons and there was an option for double sausage however after selecting "Meal" the screen jumped to drinks. I saw a woman wearing one of those in your face "Happy to Help" tee shirts.
Me: "Excuse me, I wanted a double sausage & egg meal but with two hash browns."
Helper: "Have you selected your drink?"
Me: "Sorry?"
Helper: "You need to select a drink."
Me: "Sorry, I'm missing something here? I want two hash browns."
Helper: "Yes, you need to select a drink first."
Me: "Oh, OK"
Helper: "So you want to add two hash browns?"
Me: "No, I want two hash browns."
Helper: "Yes, add two hash browns."
Me: "No, the meal already comes with one hash brown. I want two. You're worrying me with the Add two has browns?"
Helper: "You have to add them!"
Me: "I realise that. But I only want one more otherwise I will end up with three!"
Helper: "Oh! you want to add one more?"
How hard was that? And I don't even work there!
