Hello, friends especially needleworkers needleworkmonday@needleworkmonday community!

One thing for sure now I am so excited to do the rest of my WIP although I know it would be impossible to finish them all but at least I tried my best to catch up. After struggling some days of these two weeks, I proudly finished my cross stitched back cushion. The cross stitch I made was Pooh and Piglet in the flower garden, so it also had some butterflies. It was not easy to finish because I made some could be seen mistakes that I needed to make up. And also I had difficulties to find the correct color for the floss which fortunately I had all the same colors (Thank God!). Anyway, this project is also included as unfinished abandoned project that I finish to fulfill the challenge in our lovely community needleworkmonday@needleworkmonday.

For other friends who are not in our needleworkmonday community, there is nothing to be worried about because you could read about the challenge in the article of our needleworkmonday community on the link below

And now let me proudly present to you how I made it (included the mistakes I made, I am sure all cross stitcher ever find these same mistakes)..

Project Time:

I spent evening by evening around 2 until 2.5 hours a day in order to finish the cross stitch but the hand sewing time was short, so maybe it took more than 24 hours to finish the project.

Difficulty:

Easy but need patience and also lots of time

Materials & things needed:

  • Blue cross stitch fabric
  • Natural color fabric
  • Some embroidery floss
  • Craft scissors and also paper scissors
  • Red and grey blue sewing thread
  • Embroidery hoop
  • Tapestry needle to do cross stitch
  • Sewing needle
  • Measurement tape
  • Filling material (I used unused cut sponge)

How to make it:

1ST

I continued the cross stitch of my abandon project. I tried to continue cross stitching on Pooh with yellow, like usually I made one of the stitches first then after all finished, closed it to be the cross stitches.

2ND

I continued until Pooh finished then I had an idea to make over Pooh, I made the eyes and also nose to be brown. Now it is cute and could be seen.

3RD

Then I also used the brown floss also to make the eyebrows, now pooh is well done. After that I started to cross stitch the orange flower, lining the leaves with bold yellow.

4TH

I made the combination so you could see the orange flowers had yellow lined leaves while the yellow flowers had orange lined leaves. So pretty. Now I contined with the butterfly on top of it, at first I used the soft pink color then I made the wings with the blush soft pink like below. Well sorry for not taking the pict of the back stitch I made to complete the butterfly (but don’t worry you could see it whole, later).

5TH

I then cross stitched the pink flowers on the left then also made the butterfly. Then the picture was done (but my homework still there, I needed to finish the line on the top and bottom).

6TH

For the line I started to continue on the bottom part first, blue then peach like below.

7TH

Finished with it I did the same for the top. I made some mistakes so I needed to start over, okay…

8TH

Oh no I made a bigger mistake now, the lines on the top didn’t meet each other. So then I needed to release some stitches and start over, I would like to cry this time, but I didn’t want to give up..

9TH

I made it again, on the top, changed the position until I got the easier to cross stitch.

10TH

Ta, da I finally finished the picture. I am so happy to see the perfect cross stitch I just finished.

11TH

I then cut the cross stitched fabric, measure the natural color one to match it then also cut off. I then put the cross stitched fabric in the middle of two pieces of the natural color fabric.

12TH

I did the hand sewing for them. First I used the red floss, only to help me, so I would release it later. Then I sew with the grey blue thread for the real, there I used the running stitch.

13TH

After that I released the red sewing then turned it up. Last, I put the sponges in then closed it with the ladder stitch.

VOILA, now this cute cross stitched back cushion is ready to use.. I put it on my chair to make the chair more comfortable to use (I sit on this chair to make all my crafts here).

Isn’t it so cute?

Now I hope I still have time to continue some of the WIP I still have.
