Hello, friends, especially travelers and foodies!

If you already read my latest article @devyleona/museum-eat-and-shopping, you must know that last Saturday we went to museum, eat and shopping concept in a building. There I already promised you to tell about our foodies experience too in visiting a café there and now one of the experience I would like to share to you all..

The Outlook with Unique Décor

When we first stepped our feet on the first floor, after arrived and strolling the lobby floor below, we saw an authentic Indonesian culture café. Maybe you asked me why I said so?

It was because of a large gunungan wayang décor which they put on the left side of their area, this actually used by dalang (the person who played the traditional authentic puppets show, called wayang) to present or separate each chapter of the wayang performance. Wow, Eyecatching furnish! I mean you cannot find it in any ordinary café, can you? It made us curious to know more about this café.

Here I took a bit closed picture of gunungan wayang.

The (Authentic) Menu

When we came of course we straightly went to the cashier table to order, because we thought it would be more polite to choose what we wanted and paid there, then just came to the table and asked the waiter to serve us. They put some of their beverages menu on the top.

20220326_101011.jpg

They had some manual brew like V60 single origin, French press single origin and also Tubruk Single Origin. For sweets, they had Choco Latte, Red Velvet Latte, Taro Latte and Matcha Latte. And there, they had lots of coffee based drink like Café Latte, Van Leening Latte and some others familiar kind of café that ordinary café had.

But, wait a minute, there they also had wedhang.. Well, this traditional drink hardly to find any where, even in Indonesian restaurants. Great that they had it! A bit about wedhang, this is an authentic traditional beverage of my country. Wedhang came from Javanese language which means hot drink. Wedhang usually made from pure ginger and has many healthy benefits. There, they sold three kind of it, ginger lemongrass wedhang), sarabak wedhang (which I didn’t know and not familiar with), and lemonade ginger wedhang. And also they sold some kind of teas there too.

Here were the complete menus they had..

Sadly for the food, they only had some pastries and cakes which showed on their showing case. But it was fine..

The Price

20220326_101519.jpg

Good thing was I checked the bill before getting my seat, because actually mom and I would like to share the drink (ginger lemongrass wedhang) but they put two glasses of it on the bill, and it was so easy for them to make a refund although we paid scanning QR code, they did the same thing to pay back. So actually, for our order, two butter croissants and a portion of ginger lemongrass wedhang we paid 116,600 – 27,500 = 89,100 IDR or around 6.23 USD. I think it was fair for a café, not too expensive.

The Dining Area, So Different!

This place had a quite large dining area. Wooden furnish which was smelled not so good, because they used a kind of dark wood there, and they were still new. But they had large sofas, so comfortable. Great interior! Cozy and comfy..

Behind mom there was a large television, promote their products, wait a minute, Pegadaian! I would explain about it a bit..

20220326_101418.jpg

So this café actually is our government’s sister company of Pegadaian, which known as a place where you could find solution of your problems, because if you need some money, they could lend you, in a return you must put your belongings there, until you pay all of your loans. No wonder they put some cartoons too behind about their services.. Unique way to promote!

20220326_101431.jpg

Anyway they had dimmed light but it was okay because they had large window with a door where you could find their outdoor dining area. Nice!

Another Unique Décor and also Gold Showing Case

While we were waiting on our seats and the barista processed our orders in an open modern kitchen, I saw around..

20220326_101435.jpg

They had nice tiles with some batik motifs combination. Nice, so Indonesian.. I also loved the modern concept of their bar, modern but still Indonesian.

They also had the batik style of ceiling which was also lovely.

A mixture of gold selling outlet include gold in coins, small cards and jewelleries too, this made me surprised, I mean, not in all café you could find gold to buy, right? And there was a salesgirl which would kindly help you with the products.

The Food & Beverage

The food we ordered were butter croissants but unfortunately they didn’t warm it before served so we asked them to do it as they had promised before. The wedhang served so hot so you could see the smoke.

20220326_102412.jpg

While we wanted to enjoy our breakfast, some other customers came, too close to us and they were also so noisy. So we needed to move to the table on our left.

And you know what, while we had our breakfast, many more customers came, so this café was popular.

When we were having our breakfast there

GINGER LEMONGRASS WEDHANG

20220326_104335.jpg

Made from pure ginger and also lemongrass, it served hot. You could see the lemongrass there too. It had ginger flavour purely and so deep, hot and also spicy, plus you could also taste the fresh and calming lemongrass in the flavour too. One of the drink you should try in my country!

BUTTER CROISSANT

Soft, crunchy and tasty in savory butter flavour plus served warm. This was one of the best croissant we’ve ever had… Plus we enjoyed it in the nice ambience and Indonesian Traditional Drink, we haven’t known that this could be so good!

I think the prices in this café were friendly, the place was great and also the traditional drinks they sold worth to try and also you could have their croissants too! Nice place to have breakfast, I recommend this place for you to try..
