Hello, friends especially foodies!

On Christmas day, Mom and I went to a very popular legendary Indonesian restaurant there, I had already called the restaurant before we went there, cause we didn’t want to be disappointed when we go there, for example they were full or even close, I also had asked whether we could make a reservation for table by phone, but they said we could only just come and no reservation before. So we went there and arrived at around 11 AM something.

THE ENTRY

This restaurant had a modest casual gate I thought with some bamboo trees to close their glass windows. Like this..

THE HISTORY

A short story about the restaurant. This restaurant named Ikan Bakar Cianjur (IBC) which if translated means Cianjur Grilled Fish. Cianjur is a small city which was located on West Java where their first restaurant built on 1989, and over decades, their restaurant has already have many branches in other cities in Indonesia, like in Capital City Jakarta, Surabaya, Semarang and other cities. This restaurant sold traditionally authentic dishes from its’ origin, West Java.

You could read more about them on their website:

THE DINING AREA

When we came there at around 11.15 am, many customers were there, fortunately we still could pick the table because the customers hadn’t been full yet.

They had a large dining area with many tables, which had modest West Javanese look, some natural rock wall and their furnitures were made from wood. They had a large old wooden clock to, right behind our table. The dining area was clean and neat.

Look at around 15-20 minutes later,

You could see how crowded the customers here. You won’t get any chairs and tables after 12 am here!

THE MENU

Here were their menus

They had some kind of fishes here, you could choose between tilapia fish, carp fish or even catfish here. For the tilapia and also carp fish, they gave some choices for you to try like grilled, fried, pesmol (sundanese style in yellow sauce), pepes (wrapped in banana leaves then steamed), sour sweet, soup, in soy sauce or even red and white one (served with spicy sauce). They also had chicken, and some rice like uduk, liwet or even fried rice. They also offered some stirred vegetables, karedok (Indonesian raw vegetables with authentic Sundanese paste), sour vegetables soup and some others. They also had some desserts to try and also some juice too. If you only want mineral water, don’t worry, it is free here.

THE FOOD & THE OUTLOOK

Not a long time after we ordered, our food came, and here were our lunch

For the fish we choose one of their authentic fried carp fish, for the vegetable we chose their sautee stirred water spinach and we also chose a side dish they offered, fried tofu. And of course we had rice too, they put it in a traditional place one, as you could see there. The outlook was originally authentic Indonesia, and they look so yummy, don’t they?

Now I would like to share how the taste and flavour of each dish. Started from the fish,

FRIED CARP FISH

It was one of our favorite from this restaurant. It had dry non greasy or non oily fried fish. It had tasty savory flavour. The meat was soft and smooth. The skin was crispy, you would be able to eat the fish’s tail or even fins because it was crunchy and tasty. To add some spicy flavour it also served with the red traditional chilli paste which had spicy and sour flavour, plus you could also added the sweet soy sauce chilli too (it contained sliced red shallot and green chilli) it would bring sweet spicy flavour. I recommend you to try both and take them both to your fried fish :9, it was so yummy and a must try menu there!

SAUTEE STIRRED WATER SPINACH

It had light savory flavour and the water spinach they cooked were organic one.

FRIED TOFU

One of the smoothest and tastiest tofu that I ever tasted. It had savory flavour and so tasty. You should try it too!

THE PRICE

The price to eat here was not cheap but they are popular over decades, for our lunch we paid 213,675 IDR or around 15 USD for two and this price included the service charge and also tax.
