Hello, friends!

Yesterday was Sunday so luckily i had time to do my hobby, this time i tried to combine the felt applique sloth with embroidery, still on felt fabrics. It was fun to make and the result was useful. So just check it out, if you like it, follow me because i like to make these crafty things.

Project Time: approximately 5-6 hours

Skills needed:

• whipped stitch
• french knot
• back stitch
• running stitch
• steem stitch
• woven wheels stitch
• blanket stitch

Materials & Things Needed:

• unused thick paper
• pencil
• scissors
• water erasable pen
• A5 notebook, i bought a new one and it didn't have any cover yet
• felt fabrics in brown, medium brown, medium bright brown, bright brown, creme, pink, green
• sewing needle
• embroidery floss in some colors, 2 strands for each stitch except for the woven wheels i used 4 strands.
• straight pins

How to make it:

1ST

First i drew on unused paper, the shape of a sloth like below. Also i drew the branch of the tree and the face of the sloth like below. Then i cut them off.

2ND

Then i copied them on the felt fabrics. For the branch, i used brown color. For the sloth, i used medium brown color. Then i cut them off.

3RD

After that i copied the face on the creme fabric, cut it off. Then, cut the black eyes part with medium bright brown color. Then i cut the bright brown for the nails. It would look like below.

4TH

Then i cut the soft pink colot for the cover of course i measured it with the notebook first. I cut only around a couple of mm more than the height of the book while for the width, i added 2.5 cm more on each side. After that, i whipped stitch the nails on sloth's hands and feet like below.

5TH

After that i made the french knots for the eyes and also nose. For the mouth, i made the back stitch.

6TH

Next i whipped stitch some nails on the tree branch. Then i did the running stitch to add the applique of the sloth on the pink felt fabric then i filled the dacron inside the sloth, then i continued the running stitch until i finished the sloth.

7TH

I then whipped stitch the tree branch on the pink fabric. I did the stem stitch for the stems of each leaf and flower.

8TH

For the flowers i did the woven wheels by using 4 strands of floss, first a small orange one, a medium pink one and a bigger medium blue one.

9TH

I also did the woven wheels for another small yellow color, the largest flower one with soft blue color. Then i cut off two kind of green felt fabrics for the leaves. Back stitched them in the middle.

10TH

Last, i pinned both sides of the pink felt like below to make the book cover. For the top and also bottom of it i made the blanket stitch.

Voila, here how it looked like when it is finished.

Now i could use it to cover my notebook, i love how cute it is. How do you think of it?
