Happy new week to all the creative minds here, I hope that our weekend was blissful. It's a beautiful new day and I wish to share with us the creative process of how I made the beautiful new dress design.

People say that there is no end of limit to creativity and I believe that completely. Before we can come up with a new design we have to try out various strategies of cutting sewing or combination of fabrics. This is exactly what happened to this outfit

I have earlier designed a dress in this manner for one of my friends who came visiting . This was the dress I made for her in golden color and like I said earlier, my friends delight in visiting me and coming along with fabrics knowing that I can sew clothes. They will deliberately come on such visit to have their outfit sewn for free.

After making this dress for her I feel in love with the design and wanted to see if I can replicate something like that in another fabric.

The fabrics have different color and design hence it takes another level of creative to make this black come out nice. First I thought about adding white to the middle of the dress maybe it will give it an appealing appearance.
After doing that here, I still don't feel satisfied with the outcome.

Next I feel like adding some of the white fabric color to the hem of the sleeves, maybe that will complement the middle white to give it a better appearance. I am yet to try that though

And another thing again I feel like making some cover buttons of either black or white color but I am yet not sure of what will match this best

All of these are the creative challenges I am currently facing with regards to completing this dress I am making. Sometimes we just do a trial and error and if they final look of the dress doesn't come out nice, we loosen the seam and try again.

Dress making process

To make this dress
I had cut the front and back block here using size 6 measurements.

Next I had cut the neckline neither too wide nor too deep

Then I cut the sleeves here and the lower part to be pleated on the dress.

For the sewing first I started with turning the necklines with bias.

Then I joined the shoulder lines and sleeves followed by the side seams.

Next I pleated some fabrics to the base of the dress
And fixed in a zipper.
With that the dress looks completed. But I am not sure if I like the finished look yet.

The ladies dress in gold color came out pretty well as above .

But working with a different color of fabric, we have to go extra mile and utilize the ultimate if our creativity to make then appealing.
