Hello, friends especially foodies!
As you already know, last week was a long public holiday in my country so during the long holiday, mom and I decided to go to a Chinese food restaurant which sold the best dimsum in our city. This place not also sold the pork contained dimsum which usually tastier than other kind of meat. How was our experience there, let’s check it out!
We arrived there more than 1 pm, a late lunch for us and also too late for dimsum which usually be eaten for the breakfast, but lucky for us because we wouldn’t get any chairs if we came there on dine time. The restaurant was quite large, with the open concept which make you could see from outside the restaurant how many customers inside.
When you entered it you would find their receptionist desk and you could see their interior too. Dominated with red color with some cherry blossoms flower and also red lanterns, authentic Chinese interior.
Inside they had a quite large cozy and neat dining area. Some areas had larger round tables which could up to eight persons in a table.
We were so lucky that we got the table in a corner so we placed a bit further with others customers. The dining area was almost full. You could see that this restaurant was one of the best you could find in my city.
The menu that they had was Chinese food. They had their dimsum menu separated with their main menu book. For the dimsum they had so many..
As you could see for the dimsum they had pan fried dumpling (pork), fried prawn with dragon beard, crystal dumpling with chives, their special spring roll, deep fried yam dumplings, deep fried prawn dumplings, fried pan carrot cake, sautéed carrot cake with XO sauce, Vietnamese spring roll, deep fried beancurd skin roll, seafood deep fried dough sticks, baked egg tart, steamed shrimp dumplings, steamed pork ribs, steamed honey BBQ pork buns, steamed salted egg buns, steamed pandan buns, steamed black sesame buns, steamed lotus buns, steamed king of fruit buns, xiao long bao, steamed flour roll skin with some filling such as prawn, bbq pork, and dough fritters, they also had one portion with combination of the three flavour, or even fried it. They also had some kind of porridge in the same book.
On their main book menu, they explained a bit about the history of their restaurant at its’ front. The name of the restaurant was as their grandfather name and that this restaurant actually has operated over decades and it is a great thing that they still have many loyal customers until now, right?
In their main menu they showed their fried golden medallion springrolls, special quail soup and shanghai soup on the first page. Then inside you could find that they offered some starters like side dishes (kind of shrimp springrolls), kind of soup, then you would find their prawn menus, pork menus, chicken menus..
Also you could find beef menus and fish menus too. I only captured some of their menu. Could you imagine how complete is their menu?
Choosing dimsum was easy for us because we really used to it but the problem would be the waiting time to prepare them, that was hard, the dimsum came some one by one while the other came three or two portions together. Finally, all of the dimsum we ordered were on our table.
We ordered 6 portions of the dimsum, all looked so tasty and yummy. We also didn’t forget to order our favorite tea. Could you mention the name of all the dimsum we ordered that day?
Now let me share to you how did the taste and also the flavour of each of them, first that came was DEEP FRIED YAM DUMPLINGS
A portion of it contained 3 pieces of the dumplings. It had crunchy soft texture. Inside was tasty yam with the pork and also mushroom filling. These dumplings had tasty savory flavour and this place served one of the best yam dumplings ever! This is mom’s favorite and it thought it tasted so delicious too.
Next I would like to share about their STEAMED SHEWMAY
It had thin skin, a portion would have four pieces of it. It had savory tasty flavour with meat like pork, shrimp and also mushroom as the filling. On the top they put some carrot. It was one of the tastiest and you should try it too!
The third menu we also had there was their HAKAU
Hakau actually was steamed prawn dumplings. It had shrimp filling with soft thin skin, It had savory flavour blended with sweet from natural prawn flavour. So tasty even mom loved it too (for your information, mom is not a fans of shrimp and places where she could eat it usually serves it too well!).
Another we had there was their PORK BBQ STEAMED BUNS
It had totally sweet and also savory flavour of pork barbeque filling. A portion of it contained three of the small medium size buns. The pork was soft with suepr soft buns which were so irresistible. It was a big loss If you didn’t try it, right?
We also had one of the best XIAO LONG BAO
Xiao long bao actually were their steamed pork dumplings. It had super thin skin, with tasty savory steamed pork meat filling. Don’t miss the soup in it too because it was so tasty pork broth. We ate it with spoons so we didn’t miss the soup inside! So tasty!
Next, the last menu we also had there was SHRIMP DUMPLINGS WITH CHIVES
Last but not least, this menu also was tasty. It had light savory flavour with super tasty shrimp and also chives inside. Mom loved it, at least she could find less savory menu, she told me .
We also had our favorite chrysanthemum Chinese tea to accompany our lunch, it was served hot, made from real chrysanthemum. Tasted so good and fresh!
The price of their dimsum weren’t cheap but it was okay because they sold high quality tasty dimsum there. For all the dimsum and also tea we had, we paid 265,149 IDR or around 18.3 USD and this price included tax and also service charge. How do you think about this price?
