Hello, friends especially needleworkers and also DIYers!

Last Sunday, I had some free time at home and I also didn’t have any materials for cooking, so I spent the time to do two crafts, the one I already posted last Sunday and the other one I decided to share to you today. The idea came because sometimes I need the little drawstring bag to put any small stuffs I have and why didn’t I made an embroidery in the middle of it too, thought it would be nice so I did it. Let’s go to check out how I made it easily!

Project Time: approximately 4-5 hours

Difficulty: Medium

Skills Needed:

  • Back stitck
  • Satin stitch
  • Running stitch

Materials & Things needed:

  • Natural cotton fabrics
  • Embroidery hoop in plastic material, it would hold the fabrics better than the bamboo ones
  • Embroidery floss in yellow, white and black
  • Sewing Needle
  • White sewing thread
  • Scissors
  • Black cord yarn
  • Straight Pins
  • Ruler or measuring ribbon
  • Pencil

How to make it:

1ST

I started by putting the fabrics on the hoop. I made it sure perfectly fitted in the hoop. I then drew the hive and bee on the fabrics, I chose using pencil to draw because I didn’t want any tint to destroy the natural color of the fabrics which usually happened to the pen. After that I started to do the embroider thing. I started from the hive, I used 4 strands of yellow floss to do this, one stitch for each side.

2ND

Then I did the satin stitch for the bee wings. I used 4 strands of the white floss. For the bee I started with the yellow parts then the black part, also with the satin stitch for these.

After the embroidery parts finished, I then cut the fabric until it looked like a pocket, also I cut the same size for the back.

4TH

Next, I did the running stitch around with double white floss from inside then trimmed the rest of the fabrics. I measured the black cord yarn to 25 cm, cut it and pin it to the back like below. After that I did the running stitch with double strands of yellow floss below it.

5TH

After finished, I did the same to the front part. I made it carefully so it would be similar as the back.

The Result

Voila, here was my round drawstring bag, it had the bee and hive embroidery on the top. Although it wasn’t too round enough but I love it because it was so cute and also useful.
