RE: Capital One Says It Plans to Get Rid of Overdraft Fees
Interesting move, to be sure. Says I, who have paid many an overdraft fee over the years, mostly the result of being broke as hell and "playing the float."

RE: Who remember Bitconnect? Do you think Hive can be a Top 20 crypto by 2025 ?
Well, in the current world, that would require $140 Hive (approximately) and that seems like a stretch to me, but who knows?

Oh yes, I remember Bitconnect... always struck me as a scam from the instant I heard about it. Remember a lot of people pushing it, though. IF development continues at it's current pace and trajectory,

She's new to me... don't think I have come across her name before this, so thanks for that! These days I have "defected" more into progressive house and chillstep; seems to be my mood of the

RE: Please Help! The Mothership Left Without me, and This Planet Scares Me!
Maslow's hierarchy explains a lot... until it doesn't. For example, even when I was homeless, or "near homeless" (living in my car) I was more concerned with studying self-actualization and

Sometimes I just can't help but shake my head and wonder how things got to be the way they are... or whether things have always been like this, but we didn't become aware of them till the Internet and

RE: Meandering Through Hive — Communities I Have Been Meaning to Visit: Silver Bloggers
I definitely don't feel old, at least in the spiritual sense of the word... there's far too much to be done, seen, learned and otherwise interacted with for me to stagnate! And I can't really escape the

Thanks @lizelle! Our main activities around here include our ever-growing vegetable garden (hoping to become more and more food-self sufficient), my wife's non-ptofit organization, and of course our assorted

RE: HIVE Holds High
I like the fact that Hive seems to be holding up well on such low volume... normally, it just tends to drift down and down after a high volume spike. One of the things I found very interesting was the

Perhaps ours seem more stark because they are not "hidden"inside a monthly mortgage payment... I suppose the "drawback" of owning the property outright. Buying the place with cash

RE: Random Rantings in the Absence of Sleep — The Irony of Property Ownership and Taxes
There's really no getting around the property taxes, at least not in this state. Because I turned 61 this year, we'll be able to apply for a "low income retiree" reduction for 2022 taxes, when

RE: Random Rantings in the Absence of Sleep — The Irony of Property Ownership and Taxes
Welcome to America! EVERYthing costs money here; it costs money to blow your nose, or at least it will when someone figures out how to make a profit from it! The sad thing is that most people can't afford

Thanks for the "vote of confidence," I appreciate it! All in all we're in better shape than most of our age group, perhaps because we're out working at something so often, and staying physically

RE: Random Rantings in the Absence of Sleep — The Irony of Property Ownership and Taxes
Well, we're gradually selling off everything we own, as well. I expect we'll keep this house for another 6-8 years, at which point it will simply become too much work for our aging bodies to keep up with.

I have to admit that you're probably right. Seems like people can less and less afford to live anywhere. One of the problems we face here in this town is the gradual "Californication" which means

I suppose it depends on where you live, to some degree. Here, we have this issue of property values escalating at a ridiculous rate. When we moved in, we bought the house with cash and the assessed value

I prefer living in the truth, too. The thing that sometimes makes me just want to smash my head on the desk is this notion that I am somehow "defective" and even delusional if I somehow think
