Perhaps ours seem more stark because they are not "hidden"inside a monthly mortgage payment... I suppose the "drawback" of owning the property outright. Buying the place with cash way-back-when always seemed to be a sound decision because we would always have a place to live, if nothing else. What we did not count on was property values rising 440% since we bought the place... while general "inflation" for the same time period has been about 30%.

The BNB sounds like a good idea, especially since you have an ADU on your property!
