There's really no getting around the property taxes, at least not in this state. Because I turned 61 this year, we'll be able to apply for a "low income retiree" reduction for 2022 taxes, when means the amount counted as "subject to tax" will be reduced by 25%. It's not a lot but it all counts.

Remortgaging make no difference; the taxes just get rolled into the monthly payment, but they still have to be paid.
