Cómo margariteños el 8 de septiembre es un día especial pues celebramos el día de la Virgen Del Valle, este año este día yo tuve clases a pesar de ser un día feriado en la isla. Pero con mi mejor amiga fuimos el día antes ya que yo todos los años llevo un pastel en ofrenda a la virgen. Luego de dejar el pastel en la iglesia estuvimos caminando por el Valle y quiero compartir esas imágenes con ustedes. Nada como pasar un día de septiembre en este lugar que tiene una energía muy linda, cuando mis días son difíciles me gusta ir al Valle.
For us natives of Margarita, September 8th is a special day because we celebrate the Feast of the Virgin of the Valley; this year, I actually had classes on that day, even though it is a public holiday on the island. However, my best friend and I went the day before, as I make it a tradition to bring a cake as an offering to the Virgin every year. After leaving the cake at the church, we walked around El Valle, and I want to share those images with you. There is nothing quite like spending a September day in this place, which has such a lovely energy; whenever I’m having a hard time, I like to go to El Valle.
Siempre es muy bonito tomar fotos de la iglesia, desde cualquiera de sus ángulos las fotos quedan muy lindas y le pedí a mi amiga que me tomara una foto pues pensé en compartir esas fotos aquí en la plataforma.
It is always lovely to take photos of the church; the pictures turn out beautifully from any angle, and I asked my friend to take a photo of me because I thought about sharing them here on the platform.
Estuvimos caminando por un espacio que remodelaron y es una capilla donde se colocan velas para peticiones especiales a la virgen. Este lugar en el valle siempre me ha gustado mucho y ahora está mucho más bello. Yo siempre que puedo voy al valle y cada vez que voy me siento muy en paz. Mi mamá también amaba mucho ir a esta iglesia y ver a la virgen.
We walked through a newly renovated space—a chapel where candles are lit for special petitions to the Virgin. I have always loved this spot in the valley, and now it is even more beautiful. I go to the valley whenever I can, and I feel a great sense of peace each time I visit. My mother also loved going to this church and seeing the Virgin.
A pesar de que fuimos el día antes de el día de la virgen no había tantas personas y pudimos caminar bastante cómodas y disfrutar de los puestos y de los colores hermosos de este paisaje margariteño.
Even though we went the day before the Virgin's feast day, there weren't that many people; we were able to walk around quite comfortably and enjoy the stalls and the beautiful colors of this Margarita landscape.
Creo que algo que nos pasa es que queremos tener mucho dinero para comprar lo que venden y es que hay una gran variedad de collares, pulceras, imágenes de la virgen, sombreros y todo lo relacionado con la virgen. Yo siempre que voy quiero comprar zarcillos... En esta oportunidad no compramos nada.
I think one thing that happens to us is that we want to have plenty of money to buy the items for sale, since there is a huge variety of necklaces, bracelets, images of the Virgin, hats, and everything else related to her. Whenever I go, I want to buy earrings... This time, we didn't buy anything.
Algo muy típico de el valle es que los vendedores regalan pulceras o velas. En esta oportunidad un niño nos vio a mi amiga y a mí y nos regaló unas pulceras y nos deseo cosas muy lindas. Amo que mi mejor amiga a pesar de no ser la persona más religiosa que conozco siempre me acompaña. Ella siempre ha estado junto a mi y tenerla ahorita que estoy viviendo el duelo más grande de mi vida me hace sentir muy agradecida.
A very typical thing in the valley is for vendors to give away bracelets or candles. On this occasion, a boy saw my friend and me, gave us some bracelets, and wished us lovely things. I love that my best friend even though she isn't the most religious person I know always comes along with me. She has always been by my side, and having her with me now, as I go through the greatest grief of my life, makes me feel so grateful.
Mientras caminábamos por el valle había muchos girasoles y no me resistí a tomar una foto y es que los girasoles se volvieron muy especiales ya que la última vez que fui con mi mamá a la iglesia ella le dejó unos hermosos girasoles a la virgen y al ver los girasoles recuerdo a mi mamá.
As we walked through the valley, there were many sunflowers, and I couldn't resist taking a photo; sunflowers have become very special to me because the last time I went to church with my mom, she left some beautiful ones for the Virgin Mary, so seeing them reminds me of her.
Algo muy importante que hacemos cuando vamos al valle es comer empanadas. Y aunque mi amiga está en un régimen estricto de alimentación acepto ir a comer empanadas. Yo me pedí una empanada de carne mechada y un delicioso papelón con limón.
One very important thing we do when we go to the valley is eat empanadas. And even though my friend is on a strict diet, I agree to go have empanadas. I ordered a shredded beef empanada and a delicious papelón con limón.
Y para terminar nuestra visita al valle, decidimos ir por un raspado. Hacía mucho calor y decidimos refrescarnos.
And to wrap up our visit to the valley, we decided to go get a shaved ice. It was very hot, and we decided to cool off.
