“So, if you have small hands, dandelions are as good as daisies if you get them before they poof out and fly away.”

Seven-year-old Amanda Ludlow had an idea, and was explaining to her cousin and recently adopted big sister, ten-year-old Glendella.

“So, the last time Edwina and I used glitter … well, we don't talk about Glittapocalypse any more,” Amanda continued.

“Glitta-what?” Glendella said.

“So, uh, we filled balloons with pink and purple glitter, blew them up, and then tried to show Papa and accidentally let them go,” Amanda said.

“Y'all turned Upgrade Papa into a Glitter Doll,” Glendella said.

“Yeah,” Amanda said, shaking her head. “Papa is one of those people who looks good in every color, but, I don't really like being grounded and then you got Edwina who is going to get you grounded twice as long talking about she's not sorry for picking the lock of the glitter cabinet because some missions have to get done.”

“On Upgrade Papa?” Glendella said. “He is not the one for all that!”

“Not at all, but, see, Edwina is Edwina, and so these things happen,” Amanda said. “So, I look for natural glitter now, and people think dandelions are a weed, but they really aren't, because Grandma makes the best dandelion jelly and dandelion greens and also you can make rings of the little petals if you have small hands.”

“Daisy chains and dandelion rings: I see it!” Glendella said. “Let's do some rings for Good Grandma!”

“Yeah!” Amanda said, and the two little girls got to work and soon presented Mrs. Ludlow with the best ones each of them had made.

“Is that a gold ring – two?” Mrs. Ludlow said with a smile.

“Even better,” Amanda said. “It's dandelions.”

“Yeah, this was fun and we love you and there's no Glittapocalypse this way,” Glendella said.

“Oh, so you found out about that, Glendella,” Mrs. Ludlow said, with an even bigger smile. “Thank you both for these, because sweeping glitter up every week is not the business we are in any more.”

“Nope,” Amanda said, “because getting grounded is not the business either, although Papa does look nice in pink and purple.”
