As we enter August and the last month of summer, the dry conditions continue. This summer has been quite amazing for sunshine. July was officially the driest since the famous summer of 1976! I remember

28 miles of bliss! 😁 I left the home at 07.30 hrs this morning for a ride before the heat of the afternoon. Today was forecast to be the hottest day of the current heatwave, so getting out early was

We have footpaths and bridalways here in the UK that cross electric rail lines. This particular crossing has been upgraded to include coloured lights for additional safety. This has been installed since

We enjoyed another visit to our marvellous town park called Tilgate Park today. Being the school holidays, it was very busy, which is good to see. There is a plaque close to the main car park which displays

So, yet another trip to Guildford. That gave us the chance to visit the cathedral gardens again to find out if there had been any improvements since we last visited. The answer: not much! There was a couple

I checked the weather forecast yesterday and decided to leave for my cycle ride nice and early this morning. It was a lovely cool morning and at about seven o'clock I left home. That was a good strategy,

Today while in Guildford on one of those regular trips which are unavoidable, I had some spare time to visit two ponds. Well, one is more like a lake due to it's size, with larger fish swimming near the

We actually had an overcast morning for a change which produced a little rain. By the afternoon the sun came out again, and you wouldn't think we had had any rain at all. One thing that I did notice though

Goring-by-sea is a nice coastal town in the southeast of England. A popular place in summer months, as is much of the region. As we arrived here the sea was almost at low tide, exposing the rocky seabed.

Staying away from home can be a bit of a lottery unless you are staying somewhere familiar. We tend to stay in a hotel or bed and breakfast which is known to us but sometimes this is not possible. The

I took a very hilly cycle ride to Ardingly Reservoir today, keeping to gravel tracks, bridalways and minor roads as usual. It was quite a roller coaster of a ride as the elevation chart shows. The water

The ground in Goffs park is looking very dry now, and no prospect of rain for a while. We may get a passing storm if we are lucky but that is looking like only a remote possibility. Yet another heatwave

I couldn't help smiling when I spotted the child's toy car parked perfectly central in a car park bay. I wonder how neatly they will park their car as a grown adult. Perhaps not so straight? Who knows?

Lots of fun and sun in Brighton today. 🤣. How about living in this upside-down house? This can be found very close to the i360 viewing platform. Earlier this morning we visited the gardens around the

A picture for the #aroundtheworld challenge My wife and I were kindly taken to a coastal town called Shoreham-by-Sea today by our daughter for a walk along the coast path and then lunch. The weather started

It was Race for Life day in Tilgate Park today. Some of my family members were running and walking the course over 5k. I arranged to meet them on my mountain bike which gave me a good reason to get in

The meadows are looking really lush now. Even after the long dry spell that we are having. Still no sign of rain to come yet. This small patch of grassland is looked after by our local town council and

While the heatwave continues here, albeit a little cooler, life has to carry on regardless. We have a run of northerly winds due to a high pressure area just to the west of the uk. Even though it is summer

Today was supposed to be a day to recover from yesterday's ride but with a busy family life it can be difficult to do so! 😫. So, with school runs and shopping to do, the step count goes up and up. 🤣.

The main problem right now if you're trying to keep fit is avoiding the hottest part of the day which is usually after noon. I decided to get out as early as possible this morning for a mountain bike ride.
