Last week my mum went out with my aunt (her sister) to KL City Center after 2 years of not being able to go during the lockdowns. Now that the mandates are being lifted and easing up, they finally got to go.
She ate lunch at one of their favorite places called 'Little Penang'. It's one of the favorite eatery because they were born in Penang and grew up there for a bit. I guess it's their childhood flavors of food that they are fond of plus the food is actually really yummy.
She bought back for my dinner a set meal that came with 'Acah Fish' and rice. The fish was nicely cooked and the gravy was slightly spicy and super sourish. Extremely appetising and superb eaten with the rice. The set meal also came with 'lobak' which is minced pork stuffed and rolled in beancurd skin then deep fried till crispy. It also had a side of 'sambal lemak paku' which is a fern vegetable unique to Malaysia and it was also extremely delicious.
Everything paired so well with the white rice. Penang food can be such a flavor bomb with all the extremes but well balanced at the same time. So delicious!
