Mum cooked a 1 pot meal yesterday for lunch. I don't really know what it's called but it's a rice dish that's loaded with mustard greens. The mustard greens are the main ingredient that really makes the dish, everything else are support ingredients to make the dish even more flavorful.

I never really liked this dish when I was younger but over the years, I sorta got used to it and kindda like the taste nowadays. Still not my preferred meal but I guess I'm fancying it more every passing year.

It's a 2 step process to cooking this dish. It starts in a wok where pork slices, dried prawns, cured Chinese sausage that's been sliced, rice, mushrooms, and mustard greens are cooked together. The mixture is then seasoned with soy sauce and oyster sauce with some salt and white pepper. This first step doesn't take long as the main purpose is to get all the ingredients mixed with the rice.

The next step is to transfer the rice and everything in the wok to a rice cooker. Water is added like how you would cook regular white rice then covered and cooked.

After your rice cooker buzzes, you're done and it's ready to be served. We typically serve it with fried shallots for garnish as well as a douced of extra white pepper and also some 'sambal' for a spicy kick.

A 1 pot dish that's quick and easy to make.
