How demanding are agricultural products? Maybe this is me trying to go back to the preamble. What are the visible essentials of daily existence? food, shelter and clothing and I can also add the fact that these three sectors are agriculturally dependent. Food is inevitable at almost 80% to 85%, let's just consider the fact that we have natural water to add to its combination.
The clothing sector is 35% to 40% agric dependent. In the process, I just came to realize that a huge portion of clothing is fossil fuel dependent. I never knew crude oil played such a huge role in the clothing industry; synthetic fibers. Shelter is wood dependent although not in most advanced countries. We can also talk about house furniturings too.
So where are we heading to in this article?; the importance of agriculture and its benefit to those who will take it very seriously. We are focusing more on countries here. It has been something that many African countries have undermined. Let's come back home; Nigeria is blessed with fertile land and has proven in one way or the other to be a good basket.

The fact is agriculture over here is scarcely seen as a big business. To many, it is just a means of survival, the mentality has been small-scale commercial if we shift a little from subsistence agriculture. In the process, youths have not been able to leverage or even give it much attention in the process.
The mentality that agricultural engagement is both hard, harsh and time consuming had been perceived into reality. It is a question of why mechanized agriculture is not becoming a focus for the government in order to turn this country into a global food basin. ALL eyes are on excessive crude oil which one can also say has not actually been properly managed.
The export market is waiting for tons of agricultural transactions daily; a big opportunity for youths especially to leverage but first, clearly this long perceived mentality is one. The other will be how to bring in trainees, experts, facilities and equipment that can help promote technologically driven agriculture in the country.

If you are to ask me, since inception in my entrepreneurial Journey, I have always had eyes on the TOP three industries; ‘food, shelter and clothing’ and yes I must add, I will have to leverage technology all round. Agriculture has remained a sure business if one knows exactly what he is doing.
To conclude, let me add, It has been that year that I have been studying the food/goods exportation market and well, during this time of the Middle East conflict, such a leap is worth a halt especially as a newbie. Nevertheless, when so many uncertainties die down it will be a worth taking step. One thing I can say about the Nigerian youth is that they know how to make use of opportunities.
It is left for the government to put agriculture into a big consideration in order to open up our economy more. It will boost an employable economy. Personally if I were to target how to raise youth, it will be on tech sensitization and connecting it to the opportunities we have within our reach and agriculture is one of those big Windows.
